Department InformationThe California Department of Aging (CDA) administers programs that serve older adults, adults with disabilities, family caregivers, and residents in long-term care facilities throughout the State. The Department administers funds allocated under the federal Older Americans Act, the Older Californians Act, and through the Medi-Cal program.

Recognizing that California’s over-65 population is projected to grow to 8.6 million by 2030, Governor Gavin Newsom issued Executive Order N-14-19 calling for the creation of a Master Plan for Aging to be developed by December - 2020. The Master Plan will serve as a blueprint that can be used by state government, local communities, private organizations, and philanthropy to build environments that promote healthy aging. CDA will play an integral part in the development and implementation of the Master Plan.

The Position is headquartered in Sacramento.Under the general direction of the Information Security Officer (ISO), the Information Technology Specialist II (ITS II) is responsible for performing a wide range of security tasks to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of CDA information systems and information assets. The ITS II oversees, evaluates, and supports the documentation, validation, assessment, and authorization processes necessary to assure that existing and new information technology (IT) systems meet the organization's cybersecurity and risk requirements. Ensures appropriate treatment of risk, compliance, and assurance from internal and external perspectives. The ITS II conducts assessments of threats and vulnerabilities; determines deviations from acceptable configurations and department policy; assesses the level of risk; and develops and/or recommends appropriate mitigation measures in operational and nonoperational situations. Define appropriate levels of system availability based on critical system functions and ensure that system requirements identify appropriate disaster recovery and continuity of operations requirements to include any appropriate fail-over/alternate site requirements, backup requirements, and material supportability requirements for system recover/restoration. The ITS II regularly collaborates and communicates with Division of Information Technology (DIT) staff, business partners and leadership.

Special RequirementsThis position is designated under the Conflict of Interest Code . The position is responsible for making or participating in the making of governmental decisions that may potentially have a material effect on personal financial interests.
